Students of the Silver Lake College created a “Write My Essay Tutorial”, an online tutorial system that guides both undergraduate and post graduate students in composing their essay requirements. Created by English and Information Science & Technology majors, the online tutorial system started as an entry to one Washington-based high school science fair. Upon entering college, the former students of the science fair reunited and decided to create a website that will help students on their writing concerns.

Elise Walden, an IT major and one of the creators of “Write My Essay Tutorial” stressed that their main goal in building up a website is to primarily encourage students to write their own essays. Elise realized that more and more students detach themselves from spending some time to write, thus they sacrifice the motivation to learn. “Through the Write My Essay Tutorial, students are free to ask questions and find valuable tips on how they can improve their writing skills without a cost,” Elise proudly says during an interview.

Elise’s partner and the mind behind “Write My Essay Tutorial”, Andrew Perrault has been an expert in essay writing and has been tutoring high school students for two years now. As an English major, Andrew does volunteer tutoring sessions every month. To maximize his assistance to fellow students, he devised an ingenious method of teaching students through online tutoring. At first, Andrew created a blog where he posted articles and tips on how to effectively write an essay. Surprisingly, he was not aware of the enormous contribution he made to the society of students. He added a chat box to his blog so that whenever he is online, students will be able to ask him personally about a particular topic.

Elise and Andrew, together with other volunteer schoolmates in the English and Information Technology Departments, are constantly improving their website prior the formal launching of “Write My Essay Tutorial.” Andrew states, “We have conducted some experiments with middle school students to check the effectiveness of the online tool. So far we gained positive response. We will be informing everyone how they can use Write My Essay Tutorial once everything is settled. Turning it into business, that I am not yet sure of. For the meantime, we would love to see its success first.”
